Goals
Stuartholme School is part of an international network of Sacred Heart Schools connected by the vision of the society’s founder Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Madeline Sophie’s vision is articulated by the Five Goals of Sacred Heart Education providing the foundation of all Sacred Heart School educational programmes.
The Five Goals:
1. Faith which is relevant in today's world
It is important to acknowledge Christ’s presence in the world and build a solid foundation holding true to the Sacred Heart values. Stuartholme applies the Church’s teachings into our everyday School-life. The School fosters a sense of community where faith is supported and the growth of every individual Girl is encouraged. Regular opportunities are provided for participation in sacred traditions such as the Eucharist, Mass, prayers, paraliturgies, retreats and assemblies.
2. A Deep Respect for Intellectual Values
One of the most important core values of Madeline Sophie Barat is the importance of lifelong education. Stuartholme School focusses on encouraging each student to understand that learning involves many experiences within and beyond the classroom.
Our School hosts an extensive and well-rounded curriculum programme which promotes an understanding of learning as a meaningful experience. Each individual Girl is focused upon and is encouraged to personally achieve her fullest potential. Each Girl’s gifts and talents are recognised, appreciated, nurtured and challenged through open learning. Effective study techniques are also taught to ensure the Girls are well prepared to achieve their academic goals now and following graduation.
3. Building Community as a Christian Value
The spirit of our School Community acknowledges and demonstrates the Scared Heart values, where individual strengths and weaknesses are discovered, explored and shared. The Girls are encouraged to challenge and support each other in their journeys, forging life-long friendships and close bonds beyond graduation. Stuartholme School is a multi-cultural community, providing opportunities to understand and appreciate different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. We believe this provides opportunities for rich cultural understandings and mutual respect of diversity.
Students, Staff, Parents, Alumnae and friends associated with Stuartholme School are an integral part of our Community and ensure the spirit and values of Madeline Sophie Barat are ever present.
4. A Social Awareness that Impels to Action
Stuartholme School acknowledges the importance of the School body being actively engaged with the wider community. An understanding of issues surrounding social justice from local, national and international perspectives is encouraged through our active outreach programme.
This programme fosters both social responsibility and commitment, providing the Girls with opportunities for community engagement.
5. Personal Growth in an Atmosphere of Wise Freedom
Our School recognises the importance of teaching the Girls the importance of self-value. At Stuartholme we aim to encourage each Girl to identify, develop and understand her own personal strengths and weaknesses. We believe that each individual makes unique and worthwhile contributions through collaboration. Stuartholme School provides each Girl with the skills and freedom to make wise choices now and well into their future.
Stuartholme School has a deep commitment to each of the Five Sacred Heart Goals. Every year, the School Community will reflect and focus upon one goal. We hope that this will encourage the Students, Staff, Parents, Alumnae and friends associated with Stuartholme School to develop a deeper understanding of the Sacred Heart Goals and work towards living them in their everyday lives.
