Visual Art

 The Visual Art Department at Stuartholme offers a course of study that aims to promote critical, cultural and aesthetic understandings through participation in the processes of the visual art experience. Students are encouraged to think creatively, to undertake critical analysis and problem solving processes involved in producing, displaying and appreciating artworks.

There are three dimensions in this course that are equally balanced;

  • Visual Literacy -   the communication of meaning through visual forms
  • Application -        the skills and processes to make and present artworks
  • Appraising -          the critical analysis of artworks, artistic language and expression.
