Spirituality and Student Wellbeing

“We bring up the children for the future, not for the present, not that we may enjoy the fruit of our work, but for others... Therefore, we must have to do with things raw and unfinished and unpolished... We must remember that it is better to begin a great work than to finish a small one. . . Our education is not meant to turn the children out small and finished but seriously begun on a wide basis. They must leave us with self-knowledge, energy, and purpose.”

Janet Erskine Stuart
Enriched by the philosophies of Sacred Heart Education, Stuartholme enables students to understand, appreciate and celebrate Catholic traditions within a supportive school environment. The spiritual life of the School and our Student Wellbeing Program work together to ensure the holistic development of our girls.

The religious life and mission of the School community, combined with our high quality Student Wellbeing Program, enhances each girl’s educational journey.

Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat proclaimed students would “come as they are and be cared for with great love.”  Stuartholme’s spiritual and faith life, and its Student Wellbeing Program are grounded by this same hope. When students know they are cared for, they can care for themselves and reach out to others. This is our mission, as articulated by the rscJ Sisters in their  Constitutions of 1982: “Our starting point is the Gospel with all that it demands from us of love, forgiveness and justice and of solidarity.”

Spirituality

Personal relationships with God, with self, with others, and with all creation are an integral part of a Sacred Heart Education.
